Ceramic artist Paul F. Morris of Fort Collins, Colo., whose work is on display in the main gallery of Chadron State College’s Memorial Hall, will address the public during a presentation Friday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at the exhibit.

The slide show and lecture is free and open to the public. Morris, whose fanciful and multi-color ewer vessels are on display as part of the CSC Galaxy Series, also will speak to CSC’s elements of art classes that morning.

Morris is a full time studio ceramicist and adjunct faculty in ceramics at the Larimer campus of Front Range Community College in Fort Collins. He has a graduate degree in ceramics from the University of Northern Colorado and a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Colorado State University.

Morris was featured in the fall 2010 issue of “Clay Times.” His ceramics have been shown nationally and internationally in a variety of venues from museums to art centers to academic and commercial galleries. The artist’s work is included in Lark Books’ “500 Ceramic Sculptures, 500 Pitchers, 500 Vases, 500 Raku.” He is represented by Perlow-Stevens Gallery at Columbia, Mo., and Teal Art Gallery at Breckenridge, Colo. He resides and maintains a studio near Fort Collins with his wife, fibers artist Paula Giovanini-Morris.

Morris is one of two Fort Collins artists with work in CSC’s main gallery. Also showing is work by Lili Francuz, who works with layers of discarded French posters and advertisements, mixing shape, color, and type in compositions.

On the second floor of Memorial Hall in Gallery 239 is the art of Rhode Island College artist Jill Ann Cook’s small intimate works of painted prints depict vague, romantic figures struggling through indistinct white space.

Both shows will be on display until 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25. More information on the artists can be found at www.paulfmorris.com and www.lilifrancuz.com.
